Instructors

Matsuko Levin

 

Since 2008, Matsuko has been hosting a kimono wearing club at the Japanese Women's Club in Boston,USA.  After retiring from Northeastern University, she traveled to Japan to study the art of wearing kimono in earnest.

 

In 2015, she became a certified instructor with the National Costume Cultural Promotion Association Japan.

 

Matsuko's talents include swimming (WSI) and she has acheived the rank of ni-dan with the naginata.  She also loves mahjong and knitting.

 

 

Yumiko Shimada

Yumiko was certified as a kimono instructor by the Kyoto Kimono Hakubi school.  Her hobbies are Japanese dance and jazz dance.

 

Ara Mahar

 

While living in Japan for two years, Ara studied the authentic way of wearing kimono and placed second place in the All Japan Kimono Contest.  In Boston, Ara spends their time spreading kimono culture.  And in their free time, they love playing the Japanese poetry card game Hyakunin Isshu Karuta and studying Japanese Tea Ceremony.
